
OUR HISTORY
In 1981 Rev. William C. Jones said he felt God calling him to start a Free Will Baptist Church in Marysville.
The first service was held at the home or one of those in attendance.
The services were held on Sunday morning, Sunday evening, & Wednesday evening. There were an average of 24 in attendance.
On April 26th the first business meeting was held with 27 present. Rev. William C Jones was elected pastor. it was decided to hold meetings at the same location until a building could be found. Virginia Jones, Grace Stambaugh, Brenda Landon & William Jones were elected Sunday School teachers. The constitution and by-laws were drawn up. Virginia Jones was elected treasurer. Brenda Landon was assistant treasurer.
May 31, 1981 the services were moved to Marysville High School. Services were held there until Sept. 1, 1981 when a building on Maple St. was rented.
January 9, 1982 the Exective Board of the Central Ohio Conference held an organizational meeting. Rev. Don Hix & Rev. Jerry Newman of the Exective Board were the only two able to attend due to bad weather. Rev. Hix appointed Rev. William Jones to serve on the board for the night to have a quorum of three on the board. The treaties were read and discussed. The covenant was read to the fifteen people wishing to join the Marysville Free Will Baptist Church.
The Charter members of the church were: Rev. William Jones, Virginia Jones, Robert Jones, Timothy Jones, Angela Jones, Charles Jones, Gladys Jones, Robert Allen, Juanita Allen, Marion Landon, Brenda Landon, Joseph Landan, Jennifer Landon, Jeffery Landon, Julia Landon.
Rev William C. Jones was officially elected pastor. Brenda Landon was elected clerk & Virginia Jones was elected treasurer.
In June of 1982 eleven pews & 2 chairs were purchased from another church. The church's first piano was purchased from the Marion music store.
May, 1983 the property at 280 N. Cherry St. was rented. it included the former Church of God building, parsonage, contents, & a thrift store.
In 1985 the church entered into a land contract to purchase the property. Rev. William Jones said God was directing him to step down as pastor. In November Rev. Jay Vance took over as pastor until April of 1989 when he stepped down. At this time Rev. William Jones stepped in as interim pastor until October, 1995 when Rev. Clarence Newman was elected pastor.
Work was started in June, 2000 to build a new sanctuary. Pastor C. A. Newman was in ill health at this time. Pastor Newman was the first to preach in the new sanctuary on Easter Sunday 2001.
In May of 2002 pastor Newman went home to be with the Lord. Rev. Jon Mountjoy then became pastor. He served as pastor until February, 2006.
Rev. Paul Bogenrife became pastor in April, 2006.
